There are people here who have heard Paterson speak, New
Hampshire and Myrtle Beach, (GMCMI) on the process of building
an engine. The guy knows !!
Now here is the part that bothers me. Check out the value of the
US vs CDN dollar. The $8000 is gonna cost you $4500 if Paterson
is quoting CDN dollars. AND someone has to put it in :-)

Something to think about.

Unless you have found out to the contrary, it's my understanding Dick's
price includes removal of the old and installation of the new??

Agreed, but it's a pet peeve of mine as I keep hearing how wonderful the
500 Caddy is and nobody has offered any proof. Personally, I think it's
a toad, but that's my opinion.

Well, a rebuild is no insurance policy. I think I'd take my chances
with a properly maintained "experienced" engine until the replacement
became necessary. To each his own.

Yep - no warranty otherwise. Dick wants to make sure the engine is
run-in properly when it's first started. The price is a screamin' deal
due to the exchange rate(apologies to our Canadian GMCnetters) if you
have the time for a Canadian vacation.
