Boy, Don must have put on a lot of miles recently????? When we were
camping
together this past mid-May, he told me he had about 60K miles on his switch
pitch transmission.
Paul: It may be that the number of miles on an engine or transmission in a
GMC are kind of like fish stores; they get bigger with each telling. Or he
may have meant that he had 60,000 miles on his second transmission (he did
an overhaul at 80,000 miles as a precaution when he swapped out his
engine), or I may have gotten it quite wrong. The moral of the story is
that he seems to have had very little grief in the real world with his
switch pitch. Most GMCer's (and transmission people's) reactions to the
switch pitch are decidedly negative. It was refreshing to talk with someone
with an intimate knowledge of the pros and cons (or in Don's case, pros).
