While following the discussion(s) about LP gas tanks,
their care and feeding, I've seen a couple of references to
Manchester as being the OEM supplier of the GMC LP
gas tank.
The tank in my coach was OEM'd by Brunner Mfg. (still in
business, BTW). At what year did Manchester become
the OEM supplier? While re-doing my LPG compartment
and tank, I contacted Manchester about getting an
updated replacement. After talking with Rob
Reifschneider at Manchester about it, he mentioned that
in his memory, Manchester has no tank of GMC
configuration. I sent him drawings, dimensions, and the
page out of the parts manual, and nothing they have in
inventory is a direct replacement. All that is available is
frame-mounted configurations. If someone has a
Manchester part number, I'd be glad to ask Rob again,
and perhaps stir the ancient archives and see if a direct
replacement may still be available.
In contacting Brunner (only via their Web site), I'm not
convinced they still have the GMC configured tank in
inventory, but could/would probably custom build one. Just
haven't had time to follow up on that.
BTW, ASME gas containers that are permanently
mounted are now properly referred to as "tanks". For
DOT removable gas containers -- those used on travel
trailers, BBQs, etc. -- the current proper reference is
"cylinders". This nomenclature adjustment was done to
avoid confusion (yeah, right -- like THAT's possible with
any regulatory body . . .). As the person who writes the
Owner's Manuals for a large SOB manufacturer located in
Riverside, CA, I had to revise all references in our
manuals to reflect the new nomenclature.
Just letting you know, because somebody will probably
correct you some time. Doesn't make a bit of difference
to me what you call them.
And on this Memorial Day weekend, let's not forget why
the stripes in the flag are red. Remember those who
serve, those who served, and those who fell.
