Hopefully we are mature enough to handle this discussion without too many jokes or too much innuendo :twisted: , but I have a question about macerator
hoses.

I am still using the same macerator hose that came with the coach after ten plus years. It is a piece of 3/4" vinyl garden hose, cut to length, and
fitted with a male threaded fitting clamped on the cut end. It is stored in a conduit storage pipe similar to this:

The problem is that the hose gets/is very stiff in cold weather, making it difficult to remove and then re insert it into the storage tube.

The question is, does anyone have any recommendations on a more pliable hose, specifically one that stays pliable in colder weather? What do you guys
use?

I used an agricultural use rated 1" rubber hose. I would think it should stay pliable down below freezing.

I store it in a straight piece of 1.25" PVC conduit running along the underside of the driver's side.

Carl- when I did my macerator i was picky. I wanted a 1" id hose. That was smoothwall on the id. And flexible at a wide range if temps.
After going to every big box home inprovement, plumbing, hardware and industrial supply shop in a 100 mile radious I could not find something I was
happy with. Talking to Jim K he said he was able to find such a hose so I bought from him and was not dissappointed.

I did notice there might be a simmilar hose at the overton store. But had no reason to look at it closer when I was there a month ago.

I was running mt macerator when it was just above freezing and hose is pliable.

Jon, Is this the hose 'kit' you got from Applied?

Did you connect yours directly to the macerator pump? Mine was plumbed in by the P.O. to adapt it to a hose fitting and I screw the hose on to that
fitting just like a faucet at home. Not entirely convenient, but it works.

empty the tanks, black first, grey second, then clear water. I usually
throw it under the coach when not in use. The PVC pipe trick works well,
many owners use those, too. Cold weather does complicate wrestling with any
hoses.

Sounds like I do about the same as everyone else with the hose.

in Spring of 2018, we were stuck in completely stopped traffic. People were getting out of their cars, since we had not moved for a very long time.

We were playing cards, and a knock came on the door, and my granddaughter got to it before I could.

It was a woman from one of the other cars who wanted to use the head.

My granddaughter agreed before I could say NO. I made the usual admonishment about what went down the toilet.

When we arrived at our destination, the macerator promptly jammed, and I spent a couple of hours fishing a feminine hygiene product out of the pump, and missed the boat ride that Lyla decided would be “it”. Seven year old’s can be that way.

Five months later, we were stuck in traffic again, and a knock came at the door. Once again, my granddaughter was the first at the door.

Her response, without prompting “sorry, it’s broken”

After the other traveller left, I had a truth discussion with Lyla.

Her response “I know, but WE have things to do, and I don’t have time for you to be fixing the poop-shooter”

That hose is expensive, but it is very flexible .
We also have the other hose that is lot less expensive we supply with our
kit, it is not as flexible and does not kink like the ones at hdw stores.
Our new kit has the Special reduced tap made for us by Lynn Clark that
draws out 50% more of what is left by the other designs.

I use the same hose along with the strange looking end piece. I got them as a kit along with the macerator pump but not from JimK. I have been using
it for several years and it is always flexible no matter the temp outside. I have semi rigid pipe that comes out between the Onan and the battery and
the flexible part I store above the battery.

Marine hose from mascerator to driver's side rear, then permanent connection to the flex hose.

Stores in some PVC electrical conduit - rigid abt 8' long total - that goes along the fwd side of the bumper bracket, then two 45s, and up to the rear
tank. Plumbed in a fresh water connection with a check valve upstream from the mascerator. Pull the hose out of the conduit, extend to dump (the hose
stretches), turn on switch, dump, turn off, connect and turn on fresh water to flush, then stick back in conduit.

Works great.
