Some of you will remember Walter Krebs, a veterinary doc from Grants Pass, OR, who owned the former Newman-Hass Racing GMC. As the name implies, that coach originally was the support vehicle for Paul Newman’s racing interests.

Walt was a delight at many GMC rallies where he would keep an audience in stitches with his often made up stories. He was a vet, bush pilot, hunter, fisherman, guide, world traveler, father, husband to the same gal for 75 year (she is still alive) and all around good guy. He will be missed

Jerry, did you raise your butt off the sand, take your toes out of the Sea
of Cortez, and come stateside yet? Was Walter at Jerry Wheelers SOOR rally
where you and I and Manny and Gary Berry did the 1 ton installs and
alignments? I was trying to recall who all was there and helped us eat all
that Dungeness Crab and beer.

Never met the gentleman, but met the coach at Road Atlanta when Newman was using it. Newman was a racer first, he'd hold court in the lot and answer
questions and give hints until some poot would come looking for an autograph, at which time he would disappear inside the coach. Racetracks were for
racing and racing discussions only, stars stayed at home.
