Locking gas cap

Perhaps something like this?
I can't guarantee the fit but I know we need an older style gas cap and I believe ours is non-vented

Is a locking gas cap really necessary? To syphon gas you'd have to thread the tube down the pipe about 8' and make a left angle turn to get the tube into the tank. Is that even possible?

Locking gas caps only prevent people from putting things in your tank you dont want.

Almost all cars now you cant really siphon out the gas filler and our gmc is probably in that category.

The method people use is just punch a hole and drain gas out.

Sadly almost all theft, causes way more $$ in damage from the theft then what they steal. Catalytic converter. Gas tank punctures, busted windows. Wreck a car when they steal them.

I think there are part#’s for locking gas cap for the gmc. But i think that just makes it annoying for owner and will not stop a thief.

I think one could put a fake gas door on the gmc and run a hose to the black tank and mark that “premium gas only”.

I can almost guarantee no "gas thief" is carrying 16 feet of syphoning tube. And even if they were, there's no way they could snake it through our fill tube's twists and turns (and the way they connect to not one, but two tanks).

Y'all are forgetting that the person stealing gas has already proven themselves a bit dim. They don't know they'll probably be unsuccessful. They just see a big vehicle with "fer sure" big tanks and start tearing things up. If a locking gas cap sends the quick message "too much trouble" then I'm all for it.
