Locking exhaust manifold bolts

True, they are a bit more complex, but they will work in applications where
the GM part (known generically as a "French lock" for some reason...maybe a
Frenchman invented them?) won't---i.e. a single bolt on the end of an
exhaust header. And you gotta admire the elegance; I especially liked the
counterbored example.

Travis - you are correct but I like to keep it simple whenever I can.
I have fashioned my own locks before for a single bolt by just taking
a thin metal strap and drilling a hole it in and then bending one end
against a flat of the bolt head and the other end against the part
that the bolt is holding in place.

Some GMCers have reporting problems with keeping their bolts that
attach the axles to the final drive tight. Perhaps these might work
for that location?

That well may be the case. When I put on my 3.55 final drive I
ordered new bolts and lock washers from Cinnabar and I have about
8000 miles on it now and just checked them and they are still tight.

The local Olds dealer wanted $2.26 and I would have to pay in advance to
get them ordered and wait 2-3 days.
