Locked Steering wheel/column? unable to turn ignition key

It worked! leaning into the steering column and turning the wheel into the direction the wheels were turned cleared the steering ! thanks you guys.
She's been sitting underused for the past three years but got this sorted out and threw in a new battery and she started right up.
