Actually, it goes like this... take off the back of the dash first.
Make sure you've taken the ground wire off the engine battery.
Pull the light knob out (turn on the lights)
There is a little mushroom topped button toward the front to the switch
assembly. It should be on top.
Press it down while you wiggle the light switch knob in and out *slightly*
til the mushroom presses down.
Pull on the light switch knob, and the whole thing will come out.
You can then take the wood grained trim piece off the dash. Be careful, as
there is a fiber optic light path that illuminates part of the dash. This is
sort'a brittle.
The windshield control knob is just a friction fit on the control shaft, and
you may have to heat it with a hair dryer to get it off. Be careful not to
break it on removal.
