In the discussion a few months ago. The WIX 51049. was the longest. As I recall. It's about 1 inch longer then a Fram. I buy oil by the barrel. And oil filters by the case. So I now need to order a case of filters. As I've got about 1200 miles on my oil change now. And I want to put it away for the Winter. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale, Iowa

Bob,

The Wix 51049 is the filter that I have used for the last 15 years and it is the longest in length.

It is also listed as a Pro Gauge PGO-5, Purolator PER-5.

Thanks John. I'll order a case. Some owners want to get as many miles as they can out of an oil change. Our trip to Florida will put about 2500 mile on the GMC. Oil, and a filter are cheep at home. Yes. I over maintain everything I own. Cheaper then repairs. And roadside tech sessions. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale, Iowa

Bob,
It sems like what your doing is working for you.
Pay now or pay later.
There is no subsitute to doing visual inspection as well as things can
loosen up.
After our resent 5,300 mile trip , I will be lifting up the coach and do a
visual.

Be sure to prefill that larger filter as much as possible. If not that is more crank revolutions without oil pressure during post change restart.
For me the filter just captures particulates. Does not remove liquid combustion byproducts. If my standard length Wix is clogging with particlulates
in my oil change interval, I have bigger problems.
