I've been asked to post a link to the first of many interviews and interior GMC Motorhome tours I conducted with fellow GMC'ers at the 50th anniversary rally in Michigan recently. This one features John Mest, foreman in Final Finish, which was located in Plant #2, Pontiac, MI – the current site of the M1 Concourse.
Part one of John Mest's interview can be found here.
John worked on the GMC Motorhome assembly line between 1972-1978. He was hired in 1972 and was part of the team assembling beta versions of the motorhome before production actually began. The interviews were recorded at the 50th anniversary rally in September, 2023.
His wish came true: he is now the proud owner of a 1974 GMC Motorhome.
If you live in the North East or Mid-Atlantic area of the US, and would like to featured in future videos, please email me at marco@mymotorhomelife.com.
