Jasper Engines

Thanks to Arch's message about Jasper engines, I checked their web page, then
gave them a call at 800-827-7455. Taked to Jamie, X2018.

I have a 403 engine and am interested in an upgrade to a 455. I was told
Jasper can't do an upgrade but would supply a 455 engine outright for
$3336.25 + $150 core charge. Since I have no 455 core, the engine would cost
$3486.25 FOB Jasper, IN. Shipping from IN to OR was estimated approx $350.
Warranty is 18 months/50,000 miles.

Does anyone know what complications there might be, if any, in a 403/455
swap? Or, would it be better to stick with a 403? Advice, please.

Glen;

Was this for a short block or complete engine and what were the mods
to the stock configuration. Pep Boys quoted around $1,200 for a short
block 455 last time I asked and $1,900 for a long block.

Hello
When purchasing an engine over the counter, I would suggest that one
of the questions should be about the camshaft. A "motorhome" cam is
required.
Dick Paterson at Paterson Pontiac ( use your search engine as I don't
have his address) is an expert. I heard him speak at GMC
International in NH in Sept. Anyone there will attest to his
knowledge. Call or E-mail him.

Has anyone had any experience with Winterfeldt engines? They claim to
build custom and standard engines for the GMC.
