I am rerouting some of the wires for my Caddy500 swap. Since the
distributor is in the front of the motor I decided to shorten the ign.
wire. When I pulled the wire out of the loom I found some of the
insulation had melted off the wire. When I pulled the wire the rest of
the way out I found another spot that had gotten hot enough to melt the
insulation. I have no idea when or how this happened. The rest of the
wires in the loom looked to be alright. I spliced a new wire from inside
by the fuse panel.
I have a 76 GB and the bad wire was black with two white strips.
Erv, you might want to have that wire checked to see if it could have
been part of your problem.
