How to remove this Radio Antenna ?

Whats it look like from the top? There should be a stud passing thru the roof and something on the other side retaining it... sometimes it's the actual antenae mast, other times theres a nut under a plastic or rubber shroud.

i removed the top side did only come loose the Rod itself.
I will try remove the caulking around the plastic base first and see if something underneath.
There is a diagram from the Maintenance Manuals that shows an exploded view. From my mind's eye, a nut holds the whip in place and below that is a larger nut that holds the mount. The mount should just drop out from the bottom.

If that is an OEM antenna, what Bruce posted is entirely correct. Also that antenna is mounted in aluminum and over the years they tend to oxidize or corrode. So when you replace whatever you are doing, clean everything so the base makes a good electrical connection. Your radio reception will improve imensely.
What I did was remove the antenna I showed above and permantly sealed the hole. Then ran a piece of RGU cable from the radio to a splitter (common TV cable splitter) on the TV antenna that was on the roof already. I got about a 60% boost in signal from this much better antenna, and removed one more possible leak from the roof. I imagine if the TV antenna were raised when stopped the reception would be even stronger.
