How do I get some lift in the rear?

Thanks Tom, it makes sense to keep the cut-off valve in the open position unless as you have indicated I need to isolate that bag for repair or other.
However, it sounds like having the Schrader valve and cut-off valve in their current configuration won't be much help, so perhaps I should consider
reversing them, at some point.

When you do reverse the valves, I would suggest you mount them on the wall of the wheel well with a short line to the bag.
Less jounce.
