For one trip to Tucson? I believe I'd simply spin off the onan, fire up the roof A/C, and boogie.

Sorry, wasn't clear. This trip is the first of many that we're hoping to take. I won't make these changes for Tucson, but that's what got me
thinking....

Many of the issues have been covered in this thread that I just discovered:
http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&th=39293&prevloaded=1&rid=4947&start=0

So unless there's some new info perhaps this thread should fall off into oblivion.

Mine works. Airflow picks. If I were upgrading, I'd outboard an evaporater and a fanwith an easy path, there's plenty of capacity in the compressor.
Most of the components can be had out of an earlier Suburban with the rear a/C option.
