My Chapman's Guide defines the "Bitter End" as the end of the anchor
rope that is tied to the boat." So technically, the "bitter end" of your
macerator hose would be the end connected to your pump.
The same is still true. When you weigh anchor and you get to the bitter
end, you lose the anchor. The bitter end of a moder day anchor is not
"anchored" at all.
When it comes to macerators, I think bitter end should apply. Especially
if your store your hose in a length of PVC that has a cap on the end with
no hole drilled into it.
