I have removed the holding tank out of our 1973 model? 26' GMC. The
source of the leak is at the joint of the tank and the kitchen pipe.On
the tank there is a short coupler with threads on the inside. the sink
drain pipe was loose on top of the coupler surrounded by hardened spray
foam insulation. after removing the holding tank I removed the hardened
foam from the 3" hole in the floor only to find what appears to be the
remains of a short rusted nipple and some broken ABS fragments around
the outside of the nipple which may have been the nut referred to in the
maintenance manual. From a posting on 7/28 this connection is supposed
to be a slip fitting. The holding tank has a Thetford sticker on the
bottom but no other identification. Is it possible that this is not the
original holding tank? How can this fitting be effectively sealed -
replaced/repaired?
