We all experience gurgling and fuel spitting back while refueling our GMC's, even on low pump settings. I decided to try Matt Colie's "Hi-Tee" seperate front tank vent line. It was an easy mod and the results are fantastic, I highly recommend doing this mod.

I add a PDF to the resource section with a diagram and photos. You can find it here:

I tip my rig over to the right when filling. Seems to have solved the problem. AND, it gets you a whole bunch of new friends that come over and wonder what inthe world you are doing!!!

When I click the link, I don't see anything other than the sentence that's also posted above. No PDF that I can see.

It's off in the top right corner, there's a little button that says download. This is the only issue with our "resources" section, is that the actual resource isn't very obvious. I've made the mistake of thinking they were just blank pages before too.

The high t definitly helps, i also went with 1/2 inch line.
Also level the coach. Camp level, not travel level. The vents are on the top in the center. Tilting will block the vents early. Level tanks will vent better

@Christo is there something we can do to make the download control available in the smartphone skin? All I see when clicking it is the meta-data, and for the life of me I can’t find any control that allows viewing or downloading.

What phone are you using? Assuming you’re logged in to the forum it should be fine on mobile. Here’s a screenshot from my iPhone (note the green Download button):

Rick, I told you that I would be lurking around here. I hope to learn a few things & get one of these things in the next 2.5 years (or sooner)

Matt Colie's Hi-Tee fuel tank vent works great!

Haven't used the Murray much since installing the Hi-Tee. Had to fill a couple of times on the way to GMCMI and back. Each time I just set the trigger holder and it popped-off when full. No spitting or gurgling.

No need to air down one side and wait to air back up.

On the other hand, I put way more fuel in each time, but less stops to fill.

Thanks Matt!

Changed the vent system to the suggested system. Works like a charm, except now I don't meet as many new friends!! Thanks for the plans...

I really don't agree with airing down the pass side. the vent is in the middle of the tank, if it's not level the vent will be blocked by fuel when it's almost full.
I say fill with motorhome level for best venting

My experience is that airing down one side definitely works.....besides there is all those new friends you meet when they come over and ask what you are doing!!

Airing down the back helps drain the vent line going to the front. It gets filled with wet fuel in the first place because of the back flush that Matt described from his modeling. The high tee prevents the effects of the back flush by venting the forward tank after the aft tank is filled.

I did this mod just before heading to the rally in MI, it does work great! I think it took all of 60 minutes to install too, mostly jacking up the coach and getting off the drivers wheel and liner.

Just got back from the Convention, and after 1k miles, it only burped once during a fill-up. It was a fraction of the fuel that used to spew out, so I'm really happy with this mod.
