Anyone know what the handset is in this photo? Is it an intercom? Or is that CB radio?

Look on ebay. I have two similar NOS Western Electric amplified handsets that I purchased in the last couple of years on ebay so I can hear on our land line phone line. The one in the picture is a Western Electric style and may be was manufactured by them.

I assume that big button in the center is a Push To Talk switch and not a volume control. What is wrong with the one you have?

I just looked on ebay and there are 2 black ones used for sale at $30.00 each. One of them is the 1500 style you want. The other one is a 500 style. Search ebay for: "Western Electric handset with PTT. "

If you just need the PTT switch then here is a used one with wiring harness on ebay.

I vote with Jeremy, its a 23 channel CB radio from the '70s. Radio Shack had a similar model. I guess it made others think you hand a mobile phone back in the days of the manual mobile phone system before cellular.

I worked as a Tech in a CB shop in the '70s while in high school and worked on several, but they were not popular.
