Ditto the wheels. Been looking for tires on and off for a couple of weeks.
Here's what I've found locally, your pricing and availability will be
different.
Michelin XPS $135.00, Sam's club, special order.
Sam's is not listed by Michelin as a warranty center, despite Michelin
confirming they are "among the largest distributors". Interesting.
Bridgestone/Firestone Steeltex R4S appear to be generally available at most
independent retailers, my best price found is $89. No one can say if this is
an all steel tire, and I don't know without looking for myself.
Goodyear G-159, McCord Auto Supply, $150, 1 week delivery (maybe). This tire
is one of the standard 'truck' tires on Goodyear's government sales list.
Government price is slightly less, but there is a 'processing charge' it all
equals out.
I considered calling Grandview in Ohio, but started my search locally.
Also FWIW, www.tirerack.com doesn't show the G-159 at all, but prices the
Michelin XPS at $145. Short of driving to Chicago, I don't have access to a
national tire barn or other tire chain store in my area.
I'm strongly leaning toward the Goodyears, but Sam's are everywhere and can
get the XPS in a day. Having just blown a tire on the road, I'm concerned
about the general availability of the G-159s.
