I concurr with your comments, Richard. There will be some in a position of
wanting to do more and some that may feel bad because they feel obligated to
join in but circumstances may not permit it.
To avoid such "peer pressure" please allow me to make a suggestion... and
please don't anyone take offense.
Whenever Patrick gives us the go-ahead to fill his mailbox he can give us
the target figure.
We would then agree on a range of participation, say $0 to $100 as an
example, and simply send what we feel comfortable with directly to the boss
and the boss will simply tell us when there's enough.
Perhaps that way we could make everyone feel comfortable with the effort, in
particular Patrick. In short, it would make participation absolutely
voluntary and anonymous (amongst peers) to boot.
I'm sure the last thing anyone wants is for someone to feel uncomfortable
about whether his/her participation is possible at the particular time.
Happy GMC'ing
Heinz
