Out of all the MH out there. The GMC is one that can be modified fairly simply to become handy capped accessible. And lets face it. Most MH owners are getting well up in age. I've contacted FMCA 3 times in the last few years about an idea of an article.. Never got into any details in their voice mail. Monday I put in another call to their editorial staff. I left another voice mail. Again I've got no response yet. Don't really expect one. They say that their interested in getting ideas from members. REALLY? Like to get some positive spin on our GMC's. Simply put in my view. They like my dues. Just don't ask for anything. Seems to be a caring group. Bob Dunahugh PS. Dolph did a great job with his response.

Bob,
FMCA's sole purpose is to bring members to advertisers. Without members paying dues and advertisers paying for access to members its business would
quickly collapse.

If you look at the advertisers in the magazine and rallies you can quickly see that the GMC Motorhome groups don't buy or use many of their products.
Its aimed at high-end class A coaches (and now upper end RV's in general). The "RV Resorts" that advertise with them don't want us either. So we are
of no value to their advertisers.

I saw the Prince article as "look what can happen if you buy one of these" and was looked on favorably by their high end coach advertisers.

I see they had no reply to Dolph's response so they just printed it so as to not really peeve off the GMC members (they still want our dues!).

Just my view on things.

Bob,

They ran another article about a coach that was refit for wheel chair access. Wrote and suggested that they contact you. The response was positive,
but the editor said that they did not have a writer in your area. I am going to write them again and suggest that they have someone meet you at
Mansfield. (I am betting you will be there.) That is not a long run from Cinci.

That is two things I have to write them about, I already jumped on them for the "Junk" remark.

Bruce:

They do a good job monitoring legislation on our behalf, and did a decent job of diffusing some really bad legislation that was proposed in the US House seven or eight years ago that would have adversely effected all coaches manufactured before 1995.

We also depend on their insurance, and more than once GMCMI has looked at insurance options, and they are by far the best and lowest cost choice. There is strength in numbers in that regard.

I have used their tire discounts, am currently using their discounted unlimited internet hotspot (it’s a really great deal in the states) and will overnight in their campground (outside of Cincinnati) this summer.

Do they do what you say? You bet. It’s kind of how things have evolved.

Very much like the ARRL (American Radio Relay League), AARP, NRA and a host of other affinity groups. You sign up, their house organ is a delivery mechanism for advertisers, and they watch the stuff you don’t have time or interest for…. and they aggregate the risk.

Hopefully FMCA gets their financial governance worked out and back in the black. I think they are overall a fine organization, trying to navigate a changing demographic.
