FYI

Towing capacity by the BOOK:
.... and I quote from the GMC manual (page 10) ...

"The maximum loaded trailer weight you can pull with your
vehicle depends on what special equipment has been
installed on it. We do not recommend towing any trailer
over 1000 lbs gross weight."

It goes on to say...

... tongue load to be maintainted at approximately 10%
of the loaded trailer weight ...
My calculator says ... 100 lbs max tongue weight.
Period. Th-Th-Th-Thats all folks. Per GMC

Then we have a COLORED CAUTION BOX!
Do not attempt to tow any trailer over 1000 pounds
gross weight ... ... which could result in personal
injury.

However!
My guess it that you could probably tow a small house
down hill! And a REALLY big car on level ground. It really
depends on your terrain, coach, engine, final drive, etc, etc,
AND
how much strain YOU are willing to put on YOUR drive train.

Now lets all hook up our Lincolns, Mercedes and Caddys and get to the next
rally! How about a Hummer.... shucks - maybe we could
just use it to tow a GMC (or 2) :)

Most of us tow far more than GMC recommends - but 1000#
is what GMC and the book recommend. No other official source.
