GMC Motorhome front wheel change

Does anyone have the previous experience of changing the front wheel rims =
to a 3/4 ton or one ton standard chev. truck rim. We are currently =
thinking of trying this with our 1976 GMC Eleganza II to make the front =
and rear wheels track in the same path. Also we are in the need of an air =
compressor. When we purchased the coach it was toast. If we can purchase =
a second hand one great, if not, we'll go new, nothings too good for the =
baby.

I don't think this is recommended due to the additional stress on the
front hubs due to incorrect offset. If you're trying to reduce
"wiggle", try the Alcoa wheels and Bridgestone tires. I've heard
several GMCers swear by the Harrison four air bag conversion for
"wiggle" reduction. You might also check for "loose" rear suspension
from bushing wear.

Rebuild kits(~$50) and new compressors(~$150) are available from
Cinnabar, Gateway and others. I think I would rebuild my own instead of
buying used if the motor is good. Otherwise buy new.

Alena:

Although I don't know his name, and maybe someone else does, but usually
at each GMCMI Rally a GMC owner vends various compressors. In addition,
there is usually a seminar and evan a work seminar on rebuilding the
compressors during the Rally.
