After much consternation, I have decided not to restore my GMC
Motorhome. It is a 1973 GMC Motorhome, 26' Sequoia (VIN
TZE063V102923). The generator was removed and disposed of (it had major
aluminum corrosion) and both the engine and transmission need to be
replaced -- the motorhome was flooded in the early 80's and the engine
and transmission were not flushed afterwards. The coach has been stored
outdoors for most of its life resulting in inside water damage and
deterioration of many of the rubber gaskets. Although the frame has
surface rust I believe it is structurally sound. The outside of the
vehicle is in relatively good condition for a vehicle of this age stored
outdoors -- this says a lot about the construction of these vehicles!
The motorhome has been in my family since 1974. I really wanted to
restore it, but my wife and I have come to the conclusion that it would
take too much time and money.
It is located about 20 miles from Houston, Texas. It would need to be
towed to its new location; it does have four new rear tires! I plan to
put it on the market in Houston if someone in this newsgroup doesn't
want to buy it.
Are any of you interested in purchasing it? If so make me an offer by
sending me e-mail @ bjdarne before February 21. If you
want to talk to me via phone I can be reached at 281.431.5138 after 5pm.
