What are the recommendations for replacing the standard GMC lap seat
belts with a diagonal shoulder/lap seat belt combination? Where would a
shoulder belt attach to the frame and what kind of hardware would be
suitable? Would my wife's idea of using a suction cup stuck to the
window work?

Bill. I will let you know in a day or two. Going to try installing
combination belts tomorrow or Sunday. Don't want to say what type yet, as
they may not work. I don't think I would use any type of seatbelt which was
not anchored properly. That is, bolted into a significant framing member. I
know that the law here in Alberta is that any retro-fitted seatbelt must
withstand 5000# of force. That is for a commercial application any ways. A
company here in town was designing a type of transfer system in a mobile
ambulance and these were the specifications he had to meet. These specs are
also in the CSA design guide for recreational vehicles. I know this does
not concern you or us as long as you remember to remove the combo belt if
you sell the vehicle. Darren
