GMC Motorhome Digest V2 #455 The service manual has a very detailed rebuild process. Would you recommend, or when would you recommend this be done?

I assume that you are referring to the GMC Onan Generator. If so, the =
following applies:
Remove cover from Control Board & jumper Terminals 9 to 5. You should =
hear the Electric fuel pump run. Now press Start & the Onan should =
start (Electrically the Control Board is providing only fuse protection =
& is not part of the circuit. If you don't hear the fuel pump activate, =
then verify that the 5 amp fuse is functional.
If it does not start with jumper 9 to 5, then look to see if you have =
spark at Spark Plug. If not, then look at the points to verify that +12 =
volts is present (open points). Then verify that the +12 volts is being =
grounded thru the points as they close. The next item to suspect is the =
Ignition wires & Coil itself.=20
Note that the Onan does not have a distributor & therefore fires both =
Spark Plug at the same time. The GMC Service Manual covers the Onan =
Generator in detail.
If you like, you can contact me by phone at 714-633-4731.
