I'd certainly take that part on... and associated expenses as a "Byte
Designs" contribution/sponsor-part.
The mission would be to start cam'ing all through the coach preparation
process so that all will be able to 'tune in' and be a part of the project
and it's ultimate success.
Webcam(s) on the dash connected realtime via a strapped down laptop
connected by wireless network to the GMC communications center and the rest
of the world.
My 2 cents re the coach... as close to "street" as the regulations will
allow. I think it would add tremendous value (bragging rights?) if all
"components" where stuff we are or could use on our GMC's. I think it's
invaluable to our Coach's (and our) reputation to do this project
successfully as stock ( + any safety items required ).
Anyone (ok, almost anyone) could take the back door out, mount a PT6 or
equivilant jet propulsion, and go. In short, anyone could throw money at it
and probably succeed in breaking the record... but to break it (with a
substantial margin) using the collective knowhow and sweat of this group AND
a stock coach.... ahhhh, it's exiting to even just think about it.
I would not imply that we don't get outside help/expertiese/money. Matter of
fact I'm sure we will need outside help but I would like to suggest that
"control" of the project stays with the inner circle, i.e. GMC owners,
prospective owners, GMCnetters. After all, primary objective is FUN.
I would supect that certain major portions, Gene already has a start on
those, will be delegated to a group of 1 or more and then it's up to that
group of 1 or more to fullfill the delegated task with maximum effect and
minimum $ outlay for the group or project, i.e. hustle for sponsorship(s) in
industry.
Should I be fortunate enough to be elected web cam'er I'd certainly hit up
my suppliers and anyone with product of interest to get the most for the
least, i.e. max MPG.
Just my 2 cents worth.... actually a hundred bucks worth. Add my name to the
pledge list.
