Tom Windslow, or anyone else, here's more food for thought as to "repair
or another".

There is "one" TZE 167V 10 1389, Eleganza I, near Warren, PA (about 80
miles due East of Erie, PA), in "good" condition, asking $20,000.00,
could be purchased for $17,000.00, maybe less now, ready to drive with
brand new front tires, new ball-joints (upper & lower) and good rubber on
the rear four, about 80 K on the original engine as I recall. It has
recent service on the emergency brake, new window shield (1994), and
updated interior (about 1990), looks "good". I was literally sold on
this one myself. As part of the deal we agreed to split, 50/50, the cost
of an "equivalent" PA State Inspection and the front end work for my
comfort level, and he was to take my Mercury Topaz toad (for $3,000.00).
The morning I was to pick it up the seller canceled; he changed his mind
and did not want the toad for his new conversion bus. Anyhow, it was
still setting there as of July 4. More info? The number in the window
was (814) 723-5676. The gentleman's name is Steele. Why don't I want
it now? I prefer the 23' to better fit available space at my home. I
will need to park a 26' elsewhere.

So, Tom, my point is this. As I ramble on about my search of about one
year and 30 to 40 phone calls, with the help of this mailing list and the
InterNet and the Motorhome Marketplace, this "one", of the six or eight
that I've considered between Pennsylvania and Florida, with the going
price ($15,000.00 to $20,000.00), for a GMC that I could drive home (with
confidence and a comfort level), and update to my specs (perhaps unique),
making the improvements and attending some rallies as I do it, and enjoy
the process, is available as a standard GMC Coach and that brings me to
this:

"Suggestions?" TMR. . . Take the Money and Run. Buy a GMC that you
can drive and enjoy while doing the updates. Have fun. And now you
have my $.02 worth. Ken.
