Jim, this is great, we gotta do it! Our parking lot has spaces for 200
cars, so 100 GMC's? Ready to take on all comers, Skippy too. Timing
looks good, if we can just avoid Fri night 6/9 and Sat night 6/10, cuz
the good ol' boys of Nascar will be in town for the Michigan Speedway
race. Gotta save room for Rusty Wallace! Richard Petty too, if he comes
to this race. He usually eats at Gilbert's when he's in town. Lunch hour
those days is no problem, and Sunday is good too, eveybody's at the
race. I'll be returning from a trip in Roy to Arkansas on Tues 6/6, and
will definitely be available for any dates that work out for other folks
for at least 2 weeks there after.

JR, we're a 3 hour drive from Sandusky, (I know the drive well!) Arch,
any chance of you stopping by on your way home after your Great
Cardboard Boat Race on 6/10? Scott, you're invited too, even without
your coach. Any other 'netters available to eat some prime rib, talk
dirty and spit? There are several 'netters in the vicinity, it would be
neat to get together. I just hope the "cow college bucket ball"
discussion DOESN'T involve the departure of Tom Izzo!

Gilbert's is at the intersection of I-94 and US 127 N. Phone #
517-782-7135. So how 'bout it folks, what's a good date for the First
Annual Gilbert's Mini Rally?

We have preliminary plans to do some GMCing in Benton Harbor the weekend of
June 9. After that we might be going to Flint to visit some reli's. I
would very much enjoy joining you guys if you wouldn't mind.

Hopefully Chris will provide a mature influence for all those adolescent
GMCrs that will be converging on Gilbert's for the free brew. There is
going to be free brew, right Tim?

Not that it matters to me since A/ I don't drink and B/ I can't go
anyhow!

Tim,
That's good for me. As you know I'm a "toiler" too, but my boss says I can
take the day off as long as it relates to GMC's.

I wonder how long we can park in your lot with our GMC's? I might not want
to drive home to Troy right after a good dinner and some of your "Tim
Brown's" brand adult beverage.

I promise to restrict my spitting to the parking lot out of sight of normal
folks.

Promise us that you will visit with us during the mini rally and that you
won't spend all of your time minding the store.

Scott!
You bet I'm going to be there. I have to have more of that good food from
Gilbert's and see more GMCs.

I think you should just drive your GMC's frame to Jackson. You have the engine
installed don't you? Just install a soap box for a seat and drive on up. That
would be a sight to see. Once in Gilber't parking lot I don't think you would
have any problems finding a place to stay.

Could it be the alignment of all the planets causing this? Why don't the
rest of you folks just drop the excuses, load up the bus, come to
Gilbert's, and we'll have a GMCnet Rally! I figure we can park 70 - 80
GMC's so we've got plenty of room. I promise we will not run out of
Prime Rib. All I ask is that somebody show me how to play Dominos so I
can make use of my new investment. ;^)

WOW! I come back from a week of splendid GMC travel and I have 36
DIGESTS to sift through! Ya'll been kinda talkative.

Thanks, Richard, for extending the welcome mat to Andy M, (glad to have
a former Yooper join us!) And Scott, I hope you're serious about joining
us. You certainly don't need an operating GMC to attend! That goes for
you too, Ritch. If you can't get tires, leave your coach and join us
anyway.

Quick directions to Gilbert's: I-94 at the intersection of US 127 North,
(exit #138 off I-94) head North on US127 towards Lansing for just 1/4
mile, first exit is Springport Rd. That will circle you back towards
Gilbert's (you'll see the place on your right as you head north on 127)

Richard, I'll do an Air Bag Seminar if you'll do a demo of your patented
"Dead Engine Vacuum Brake Pedal Application Test and Engine Restart."
At least we won't hear you "tick-ticking" into the parking lot with your
new Alcoas!

Last call invitation for any GMCnetter's that might like to attend our
little get-together next Tuesday, June 13th, 5:00ish. We're likely to
have folks from 8 states there, and I can't wait!

I'd tell you folks about how well "Roy" ran on my trip, but I'm afraid
you'd think I was bragging. On the other hand, I think I read here on
the 'net that it was Yogi Bear that said: "It ain't bragging if you can
snitch the picinic basket", or something like that.

I sure hope Andy, Ritch and Scott all make it to your place. They have all
been long time contributors to the GMCnet and to my understanding of the
GMC! I'm looking forward to meeting them.

You did have to remind me of that stunt I pulled last Fall. I suppose if I
bring ear plugs for all the attendees we could conduct a demonstration of
"what not to do with your GMC Motorhome" either on I-94 or 127 right by your
place. Everyone could be standing by the side of the road and watch and
hear me drive simulating an engine/vacuum failure. I'll of course wake up
anyone in the crowd that was sleeping when I restart the engine.

I wonder, since we are so close to the prison, if I should let the Warden
know what we are planning on doing. I'd hate for my GMC to be the cause of
a riot in the "Big House." We also better warn everyone not to pick up
hitchhikers when they leave Gilbert's after the rally ;^)

After that session, we can have a seminar on muffler replacement
techniques. Should we do all of this before or after your "Side of the Road
Air Bag Removal and Replacement" session?

You know I think you and Dave Greenberg have a lot in common. You both
claim to be clueless when it comes to things mechanical, but somehow both of
you never seem to have mechanical problems. What's the deal? I think
you're holding out on us. I think both of you know a whole lot more about
GMC's then you letting on!

I'll be over to your place sometime late Tuesday afternoon. I have to visit
a customer in Plymouth on the way (I sure hope he has room for me to park my
GMC) and will drive over after that visit. I know we are all going to have
a good time!

Tim - I just wish that I lived a little closer. I really enjoyed
your hospitality when Michelle and I were there last summer. It will
be almost exactly one year since our GMC spun that rod bearing about
a mile from your place on I-94. Your help and and Tom Warner's and
Paul Bartz's advice really saved our day.

I'm sure everyone there will have a great time.

Remember almost all the outside lights are on the rear light fuse. Mr.C
found a short in the top clearance lights that was contacting the al roof
sometimes and blowing the fuse.

Thanks Gene,
I guess I'll have to look into those top lights....
Its an intermittent problem....they work fine when its
sitting so I'm pretty sure its a bare wire grounding
out somewhere.

Kathy and I just returned from Gilbert's Mini Rally. This was our first
experience
with other GMCers and had a great time. Tim and Kathi did an
outstanding
job hosting the event. The food was great and the beverages tooooooo
plentiful
insuring a good nights sleep. Tim contrary to my initial conception of
what Gilbert's
might be like-A Heavy MSU motif- it is a very comfortable relaxing
atmosphere-that
Brunswick bar is outstanding. Thanks to all who attended I really
enjoyed seeing the different
and various upgrades. Hope to be able to do this again.
