Generator Door Differences

I have two broken generator doors that I plan to splice together. I noticed my original one from my 1973 (#2222) is slightly different from the one I pulled from another 1973 that I parted out (very slightly earlier build sequence, #2153).

Both had 4kW Onans.

A lot of pictures I see have the same notch as the earlier 1973. The new doors also seem to come with the notch.

Its purpose seems to be to clear the generator exhaust.

Does anyone know which design came first and when the change was made?

My theory is that at some point, the earlier 1973’s door was replaced with a new panel that included the later exhaust clearance notch.

The parts coach was originally bittersweet orange and then painted beige/green terribly.

The rear of my original panel has camel paint on it. The rear of the parts coach panel just has original paint overspray — indicating that it was replaced and simply painted on the outside.

What do you guys think?
