The GMC would take 30-40 seconds to start if sitting overnight. I was going
to go to the gas station and I could not get it to start at all. Or it would
start and run for a little while and die.

So I thought I would start with the easy stuff, and replaced the fuel
filter. And guess what. It starts right up every time. Even after sitting
for a month.

Ed,
It is good practice to change the carb fuel filter about every 10 or 12
thousand miles. As our coaches are older the fuel tanks contain more
stuff to plug the filters. I have added a fuel filter just before my
fuel pump and plan to change this one more often and not have to change
the carb filter as often also less chance of damaging the metal fuel
line at the carb. Most people do not have the correct tubing wrenches
and use a crescent wrench and mess up the nuts. The one recommended in
GMC Motorhome news is a AC GF-61P This application was recommend in the
June 1997 issue of GMC Motorhome News page 8.
