Does anyone have a contact at the automobile testing section of Consumers
Report? I noticed in one of their issues a short while ago, they mentioned
that they install a gasoline measuring device on each of the cars that they
test. I would like to find out how to get one. I would ideally like a
digital device of some sort that measured fuel consumption very accurately
if anybody has any suggestions. The CR article interested me because theirs
obviously works with fuel injections systems as well as carbs.

This setup gets quite sophisticated, especially with fuel injection as fuel
returns to the tank.

It requires a transducer in both lines and a smart box to calculate the
difference.

I passed on this option on my AV10 due to that complexity and associated
cost.
My Taurus has a digital dash and it shows consumption, etc.
Most of the "sending" stuff is built right into the tank mounted fuelpump
assembly. recently replaced it and the fuelpump unit was different for
electronic dash.

You might browse aviation sites. I bet even homebuilts will have fuelflow
gauges.
