Front clearance lights

I'm swapping out my clearance lights and got to the front and after removing the old lights discovered I don't have 12v on any of the wires up top. Fuses all look good. Ground wires are fine. Fuses are good. Rear clearance lights all have 12v.

I'd like to avoid taking down the front cap inside. Where do the roof clearance lights connect inside? I'm guessing they all connect to each other at some point before coming down to the fuse block. I must have a wire somewhere that's been cut.

The term you're looking for is 'clearance lights'. Here's a post that gets into some of the details: https://www.gmcmotorhome.org/threads/ground-for-rear-clearance-lights.67420/#post-420657

You may find other gems via a 'clearance light' search. Unfortunately if someone has pulled the wire out of the connector, which happens easily, pulling the cap may be the only option. Note that the polarity of the wires may be reversed from what you expect from the wire color.

Yeah I'm well aware of the polarity issue. I don't think the lights are unplugged. That would make sense if it were just one or two that weren't working but all of them not working leads me down another road. Thanks for the term clarification and the link.

My Glenbrook at home is sitting without a front cap, so I could probably get a sense of where the wire is heading for you when I get home if needed.

Here is a image from the photosite, I kind of remember that harness goes by the drivers side speaker and you can see it with the speaker/light out. https://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/led-clearance-lights/p6715.html

Jared, I had issues with my front clearance lights when I first got the coach. It was a grounding issue, but I found the wires up behind the speaker/dome light panel. I can't remember if the hot wires were up there or not.
Thanks. I know all the grounds are good on the top. I have a test light that checks for both ground and 12v. All the ground wires lit up green. None of the hot wires lit up at all.

I swapped out my front clearance lights with LED and all 5 of them lit up. About 3 months ago, I installed the 2 outer rear clearance lights with LED then tested lighting. The 3 middle incandescent lights were bright but both outer LED lights were barely lit. I never got back to it since the MH went into the shop. Then this past week, I loosened the rear AC to replace the 3 rear center incandescent lights with LED then tested - nothing lit up for any of the rear clearance lights. It must be a ground issue but where does the wiring get routed to the rear clearance lights?

Did you change the entire fixture or just the bulb?

When I tried just installing LED "bulbs" in place of incandescent bulbs, the LEDs were dim or not illuminating while the incandescent bulbs were still bright. The issue seems to be the ground; the original fixtures ground the socket to the metal fixture, then from the fixture to the wire inside of the coach. The fixture rusts and corrodes the contacts, creating a poor ground connection. Completely removing the old fixture and replacing with a sealed LED unit rectified the problem.

Completely sealed LED fixture. Grote G5052. I tested each assembly on my 12v transformer before installing. I am certain it’s a ground issue because the rear and front outside caps are fiberglass.

Here is the wiring routing for the front clearance lights from the assembly manual. Still hunting for the rear routing.
