I’m at a point now that the flooring goes back in after we got the rebuilt engine back in. Have not decided to go back to my laminated wood floor in the entry and kitchen with carpet back at the bathroom and bedroom as well as dinette and driver passenger area. Or do I get laminated floor all throughout?

Thanks

I have “half and half” now, with inexpensive runner carpets in the front and entry area. When I re-do things I think it’d make sense to do laminate throughout with an additional runner in the back. Everything gets so dirty/dusty; I like the idea of being able to get things clean.

I lean toward vinyl/laminate/wood on the lower level, and carpet/boat flooring in the cockpit. I like the sound and heat reduction up there, plus there's less foot traffic up there while camping.

Ah yes, that is a good consideration. I’ve removed the old insulation up on the firewall area. Thought I’d put down some insulation. I want to sound proof as well as heat insulate. Any recommendations for driver and passenger engine cover treatment?

I put vinyl flooring on the main floor from the cockpit, back to the bedroom, with carpet in the cockpit and dinette, Has worked well. I had carpet cut to fit over the vinyl for cold weather under foot. That did not work out. The carpet would slide out from under foot and actually became a minor danger issue, It has been about 5 yrs with the vinyl and have not used the carpet over the vinyl but once. We do like the vinyl however for keeping the floor clean. Easy to sweep dirt, etc out the door, and washing the floor is easier than shampoo carpet. Just what we have experienced.

I removed 1/4" real wood and another 3/4" of plywood from my floor, it was warping and looked terrible.
I put bedliner down over the origional flooring, then Harbor freight Anto fatigue matting, the interlocking kind,
It's soft, warn, quiet, light, water proof and repairable ( I can just lift out a square ) and pretty cheap.
It does expand a lot in the sun, but mine is kinda an industrial man cave so IDC

I have some of the same stuff "temporarily" in the cockpit of my Glenbrook. I just lazily put it in there to cover up most of the subfloor until I got around to doing something better. Then, I never got around to it. Only complaint is that it soaks up oil.

I need to get a build/photo thread made for my install of this. I did kilz on the ply floor then Kilamat sound/heat deadening then luxury carpet padding then carpet. It is now quiet and cool up front. I also built a new engine hatch with another type of fire/sound mat plus aluminum sheet over the ply substrate.

Thanks all for your responses. I think I’ll go with carpet on driver, passenger and under dinette. The rest will get laminate floor. Will do sound barrier as well up around the engine.

Thanks,
Tom
