Fixing fuel sending unit

My fuel sending units weren’t working. Apparently the wire from the rheostat was touching the metal housing. I have fixed with some plastic
washers and machine screw, but, and lock washers. I will run u ring terminal off the top to the wire. I’d like to “seal” all of this up so
that it doesn’t leak. Does anyone have a recommendation? Should I use JB Weld over all of it? Will JB Weld hold up to ethanol/gas? Any other
suggestions? These links should show the fuel sending unit and the area in question.

Unsure of what upgrades may have been done. I'm working on sorting that out in the coming months.

The plastic/nylon insulation should seal as long as one doesnot over
tighten them.
Using JB Weld is always a good back up as long as surfaces are clean.

Ken,

I've made similar repairs in the past, using plastic washer as you have.
My experience was that the plastic did not hold up. As unwelcome a
suggestion as it may be, I'd suggest waiting to see how the plastic holds
up before covering it with something that may be difficult to remove for
the possible repair. As for leakage, remember that's not going to be
submerged for long, if at all; the plastic may be all the sealing you
really need. Whatever you do, DON'T use silicone!
