I just talked to my Brother in Albany, Oregon. Yesterday waterskiing on the reservoir, without a care in the world. Today- ash on his cars. I
talked to another friend who is evacuating because of a fire near Lyons, Or.

I hope Jim has gas in his GMC, and is doing well. I would guess those fires have to be within 30 miles of him? and the weather forecast is not
good. I would guess his place will be OK... but still that is getting too close for comfort.

This is pretty unusual for that area. Western side of the cascades is usually fairly wet, and the fires don't ravage like this. 100 miles east is
and can be a different story.

Were effected by fires and electrical shut off.
If nothing else, were selling more air filters and carbon on our Air Filter
side of our business.
There is some climate change , so things are not the same.

We are A-OK here. Very, very smoky . Barely daylight here at 8:45 AM.
Orange sky, what little of it we can see. Fires are quite distant from us,
still. But unusual north winds have blown the smoke into our area. Need to
chew the air before you breathe it. Reminds me of the days when they used
to burn off the overburden left from grass seed harvesting. As I sit at my
kitchen table, I can barely see my shop, 100 feet away. Looks like the end
of days. Spooky. Coach is always provisioned and prepared to go. Fuel
tanks are nearly full. Holding tanks empty. Old boy scout, motto. Be
prepared. Serves us well.

Fires are threatening structures in Mill City, that is 35 miles east of
where I am located. Those canyon communities have all been issued "leave
now" evacuation orders by the Marion County Sheriff. Evac centers are being
set up at the State Fairgrounds in Salem, as well as the Deschutes
fairground in Redmond, in Central Oregon. Fires are spreading due to high
winds in the area, terrain is impassable by vehicles, so aerial drops from
planes and helicopters is how they are fighting them presently. No
containment is possible with the high winds. Bad situation until the winds
subside. Retreat and watch it burn is all that is possible, presently.
Evacuation of people first, then livestock if possible. Ugly stuff.
We are safe here presently.

glad you are ok. It is amazing how quickly things are different and changing. My niece sent a video of her drive. 8 miles it was 100% differenet.
from blue summer sky to red smoke looking like apocolipse. I think it was from Monmouth to Corvallis. My mom's photo in Woodburn looks like a
super nice summer blue sky day. Then my friend Nick's photo of the red sky just east of Salem, to another friend who was evacuating Mills city and
looks like a good portion of that town was on fire. that is all in like a 50 mile radius. I drove twice that radius today for work.

glad you stay safe and hopefully get a reprieve soon.
