Hi All,

I have water damage on a couple of sections of the interior wood paneling on my Birchaven. I'd like to replace and stain match a few sections -- part of the dinette, behind the passenger window, and the bottom of the entry door. The work seems easy enough, but I don't know where to source the paneling. Is it just 1/4" Birch plywood? There is a lumber company near my that lists these..

Can anyone that's tried this on a Royal or Birchaven chime in on what you used and how it went?

Thanks

Tim

I haven't been in a Birchaven or a Royale, but if any of this is for the curved walls, 1/4" is probably a bit heavy. Most cabinet shops will stock a birch plywood you can go look at in person. Lowe's and Home Depot always have 1/4" Birch if that is indeed the thickness you're looking for. I've even bought 1/8" utility panels for $15 a piece at Lowe's that look like Birch veneer to me. It's shocking how nice they look, and they're sold as underlayment/utility panels. A guy could frame out some really lightweight cabinets with 1x2 and cover it with that stuff.

Post pics so we can see what you're trying to match. I think most panels in GMCs (walls, etc.) are 1/8" Luan. 1/4 is pretty thick, but 1/4" panels in cabs are almost always laminated mdf these days.
