I was unable to get my lady started after a month and a half (I am
talking about the coach), time I dedicated to interior renovations,
shocks and brakes. I suspected the dreaded loss of prime. I tried
ether (ether it starts with this or something is wrong.) and it kicked
but wouldn't run. I will let is rest and try later.

Things I discovered:
1) I have HEI...No I am not stupid, just havent looked too hard. It got
here from Illinois with only a small problem, I was not going to tempt
fate. It is a Delco with #110395 on the cap. Is there any way to tell
if this is curved correctly for the coach or is all HEI good HEI?

2) I have a Holley 4Barrel....Is this a good thing? It has 7202D marked
below the Holley casting. If so, how can I tell what jets should be in
it? Is it time to get a Holley book to put next to my Solex, Stromberg
and SU books?

3) The automatic choke coil and cap were lying on the manifold where,
apparently, the electrical tape holding it in place had left it when it
let go. How do I test to see if it works? Can I get parts for the
Holley?

4) I have a fuel/water seperator and an expensive fuel pump I took off
my now defunct boat. Both are brand new. Should I bother with the
Fuel/water seperator? The pump showed a configuration for use as a
booster pump in conjunction with a mechanical pump...this is how I
rigged it on the boat. Is the 3-5psi pump going to overpower the float
valve in the Holley? I understand that it is a problem with the
Quadrajet.

I bow to your superior knowledge.

P.S. the commercial berber carpet leftover from my neighbors family room
looks great in the cockpit. The aluminum frame I made for the hatch and
it's surround looks really heavy duty and should keep looking good over
time. I have seen a few coaches where the carpet around the engine
compartment looks ratty really quick. Pictures to follow if I get my
Christmas wish!

I put a Holly on our 73 as well, you have open the carb up to see what
jets are in it, size is stamped on the jet itself. to see if the jets are
correct, I found it best to check the color of the spark plug tips AND how
the engine performs on the road, when I put the Holly on it was jetted for a
"smaller" engine, it tested fantastic for the VET testing but was crap on the
road, I ended up sizing the jets up 2 sizes, the plug tips are a light
tan/brown and it ran fine on the road, no pre-ignition and no run-on when
shutdown.

Parts for the Holly are available from most any speed shop, manuals, jets
and gaskets.
