I don't know if it was used on all GMCs or not, but on my 76 PB the lights
for part of the dash is provided by a single bulb that is piped via fiber
optics to several points. The light is installed behind the dash.

Franz,

GMC maintenance manual, page 12-25:

"Lighting for windshield wiper control, main light switch and washer switch
is transmitted through a fiber optic ribbon from a main source bulb located
on the L.H side of the lower instrument panel cover. ......"

Mine doesn't light up, so I'll know more about it soon!

NOT that I am aware of..

Andy,

The high beam indicator has its own bulb, it gets power ( light green wire
from the dimmer switch ) and ground ( black wire from dash panel ground )
through the speedometer printed circuit and connector.
