Once again doing battle with my exhaust manifolds. I'm afraid the PO left a
leak go too long.

I've replaced the manifold, and I'm geeven' 'er all
I've got cap'n, but I cann'a hold 'er any longer.

Once again into the breach, I put on the copper seal gaskets over the
weekend (Mr. Gasket part number 7170). I found this at NAPA:

High temperature copper based anti-seize, FelPro C5-A, NAPA P/N 765-2569,
($4.15)

I used grade 8 stainless bolts (.33 each) Left side extra good, right
side... I have my doubts. I think there's just a little too much erosion on
the bottom of the center outlet on the head.

Anyway, I thought the high temp anti-seize was a good find. Removing the
inner fender 'tubs' was also a neat tip. Much easier than hanging from my
feet by the front curtain track.

Mark,

I didn't think stainless bolts came in grade 8 - anyway I've always
heard not to use grade 8 bolts in the exhaust, based on the premise
that, when(not if) one does break, there's no way to get the bugger
out.

Might be someone's pet myth, but that's what I've been told,

Just a thought. Mondello sells his part number HDB460 header stainless
steel 12 point bolts with a tensile strength of 170KPSI tensile strength.
They are not effected by extreme heat or corrosion. Aren't these equiv to a
grade 8?
