FWIW quoted from www.mrgasket.com:
"Q: I'm having a problem with short life on exhaust gaskets between head and
headers. I see you now offer CopperSEAL gaskets for my engine. Will the
CopperSEAL gaskets solve my problems?
The embossed o-ring design increases sealing pressure around exhaust port to
create a tight leakproof seal, even on irregular surfaces.
ADVANTAGES OF COPPERSEAL
1. Long-lasting copper - will not shrink or blow out.
2. Race track-proven. Ideal for street, race, motor homes, etc.
3. Includes hi-collar lockwashers to insure fasteners retain clamp load on
headers or manifolds."
{end fair use quote}
The GMC / Olds part number is 7170 per RickStapls on 3-Sept '98
(Which I can confirm)
I just got a set at Giant Auto Parts $68.03 they were happy to order them
for me. Took 3 days.
You can call 800-267-4674, follow the voice prompts and use code 99. The
automated response system will analyze your telephone number and give you
back the closest retailer. (Better living through SS7 technology.)
Just offering this for what it's worth. If they work, they cost less than
the skin I've taken off my knuckles with the previous Flexor, GM and NAPA
gaskets I've used over the past 6 years, and I bought new manifolds in '94
and have done all I can with my heads short of taking them off for truing.
(78k actual, and don't need a valve job... yet).
