Certainly an engine suffering a catastrophic failure at relatively low
mileage is unusual, and will have happened for some reason. My main
message
is that the engine certainly failed for a reason, and it would be
worthwhile
to investigate the reason. I would find faulty assembly/machine quality,

poor selection of cores or 'honest error' perfectly likely reasons for a
engine failure. This would lay blame at Jasper's doorstep. How well they

back their product is entirely another question, but its quite
straightforward to examine the failed engine and establish the cause.

Good morning from the Central Coast of Ca. I experienced this three
times in a row. The first engine lasted three hundred miles the second
engine lasted 700 miles The engine manufacturer "The Motor Works" each
time took the engine apart and supposedly rebuilt it again. (I honestly
wonder about this) I personally believe they turned it over and put in
new bearings. The reason I saw this is the last set of bearing were out
a couple thousandths. Unfortunately the manufacturer states his
warrantee clearly states that the engine cooling system, Oil Cooler and
lines must be "REMOVED" and "REPLACED" not flushed out as the two
mechanics did. And quite possibly resulted in the failures. In any
event the engines did fail. ONe you cannot buy a new oil cooler for
these radiators. Yes the lines are very accessible and can be
purchased. In the aftermath of nearly 8 thousand dollars, not to
mention hotel bill, rental cars and inconvenience. I finally had my
original engine (Ah, ---! so lucky to have shipped it home!) It since
has been rebuilt to Joe Mondellos specs by Joe leading the class and Tom
Green accomplishing the work. I am happy with the engine. It seems
strong and well built does everything we as a GMC operator would like
our motors to do and as far as the other 8 thousand I must write it off,
the engine manufacturer is in Spokane Washington and the installer of
the first engine was Barber Oldsmobile in the lovely state of Utah,
incidentally the Bishop recommended both of the installers. The second
installer was in Beaver Utah at Anytime. Sorry folks I can only believe
the engines were contaminated by previous metals from the first that
came from the oil cooler and lines. Chuck Lompoc Ca 78 Eleganza II. If
the third engine goes in the near future. The entire rig will be up for
sale as I can no longer afford GMC or motorhoming. See Ya! Chuck,
another brother from another mother..
