Does anyone know where the ground lead for the engine battery
connects?

My 'ol 442 connects to the front of the head but I don't see a bolt
hole in the head or block near the battery on the GMC. Can't find a
good pix in the manuals. Right now it connects to the frame and the
motor cranks very slowly.

Thanks,
Bill

The ground strap connects to the frame as you saw. Some connections get corroded during the 20+ years that the coaches have
been around.

Try using a heavy duty jumper cable to jump from the battery to the block. If that fixes things, it's time to clean all the
connections. If not, you may have other problems. So far, most of the electrical problems that I've chased have been poor
connections. I'm still working on a ground problem in my dash (not a failure - just annoying).
