Engine Air Conditioner

At least five years ago I bought a 30# jug of "HC-12a/134+" which is advertised as "an all natural organic refrigerant replacement for R-134a and
replaces substitutes for Freon 12 in automotive and stationary refrigeration systems. HC-12a/134+ is compatible with all refrigeration oils.
HC-12a/134+ is non-ozone depleting. ". The stuff has worked well for me. Put it in all of my old cars, son's cars and my GMC.

Got it on Ebay and it cost me less than $150/including delivery. It looks like a life time supply for me.

It's up to $175 now but still free shipping. Only downside is figuring out how many cans = a squirt of the stuff.

According to Rob Mueller (I have no reason to doubt him) FrostyCool is the same stuff as Duracool. I have not to bought any in a long while and
resisted buying Duracool look-a-likes. Now it seems that Duracool has raised their prices and there seems to be several good alternatives like
FrostyCool. I have a life time supply of R-134 in stock and only use Duracool in my GMC so until I run out of R-134, I'll continue to use it in
R-134 vehiicles until it is gone. In a R-12 vehicle like a GMC, I would definitely use Duracool or one of it's look-a-likes.

You can buy Duracool online from Worthigton AG Parts. I always buy Duracool over the counter in their store. They have many locations around the
country.

Ive found that in newer R134 cars with a low pressure cutoff switch, duracool doesn't work so well as the pressure are too high.

So I just put 134 in cars that take 134.

Can we assume that you mean that the pressure of Duracool is too LOW for the switch instead of too HIGH?

Duracool runs lower pressures than 134a.

R134a works fine in systems designed for it but the GMC motorhome was not designed for it so if one puts 134a into a GMC motor home it will run 10 to 20% less efficiently.

ha ha.

I mean in order to get the compressor to run you have to put in too much duracool and run too high of pressure which makes the duracool not work so well.

you could jump the low pressure switch I suppose
