Chris,
If you have 1 roof AC a 30 amp service will be OK. If you ever go to 2 AC
units, you will have to put in a switcher between them to allow only one on
at a time or go back to the 50 amp service.
You could also replace the 50 amp. cable with new more flexible stuff (8ga.
4 cond. SO).
