The sender I got came with a new plastic housing. Use a pin or small
screwdriver to release the metal tab (at the end of the wire) from the old
plastic housing. Then snap the metal tab into the new plastic housing that
comes with the sender. The new housing will snap onto the new sender at a
right angle to the center line of the sender.
Before installing mine I tested it by placing it in boiling distilled water
(212 degrees) and got slightly more than 1/2 scale reading on the gauge.
