Al, one of my IBM engineering colleagues, who studies such things, tells
me the generator burns 7/10 of a gallon per hour (this may be at idle
speed without a load) . Determine what your engine burns in an hour at
say 60 mph with the engine ac on and with it off. He claims your engine
ac unit costs 1 1/2 to 2 mpg.
