Netters,
Well I certainly don't feel so bad now after just reading Emery's post
on the self-destructing final drive, et. al. Now that was bad luck. He
seems to be taking it in stride, however. I hope with his new Jasper
engine and rebuilt transmission the gremlins will leave him alone for
awhile.

I do need some help . I just discovered the the outboard CV boot on the
passenger side drive shaft had split at a seam and started slinging the
grease everywhere. I know it just started because I was under the front
end a few days ago and did not see any escaping grease. This shaft is
about 2 years old and is a remanufactured one that looked brand new when
I had it installed. It has about 15,000 miles on it I would estimate.
There were no noises or vibrations coming from this shaft so I suspect
it is still good, except for the boot.

I got the drive shaft out this afternoon and am now starting to think
about whether to do the boot replacement myself or takeit to a repair
shop. I recall a lot discussion on replacement boots and clamps awhile
back. I would appreciate hearing from any one who can tell me just what
are the blue colored "Super Boots" that I believe were recommend as
replacement boots. Also, what were the recommendations on clamping that
I should follow. Whether I do this work mydself or try to find a shop
to do it for me, I want to put the best back in.

Thanks,

I just had the "super boots" installed. I was in LA and 0ne side was cracked,
and the lub had gone out. I was able to get to Bob Lamy, and he saved my life,
and my coach. It was real dry and would at some point would have caused some
real problem. He uses the blue but has found a way to keep them from leaking.
If you are going to do it yourself, you might want to talk to him. I just
watched and helped where I could.

Hope that helps.
